No habla espaƱola, senorita!
Today I was doing my laundry at the laundromat across the street. There are usually several people there at the same time, and generally we ignore each other. I usually knit through the wash cycle, and then read a book while my laundry dries.
Today I made a new friend. As I was sitting there knitting, a girl who might have been 5 came up and perched beside me. "Hello! What's your name?" she said. Then she admired my knitting. And proceeded to chatter to me for 10 minutes...completely in Spanish. After awhile, she returned with her sister, who might have been a year or so older. They both watched me knit for awhile, and then spent the remainder of the evening peeking out from behind various washers at me. Their parents seemed to be keeping an eye on them, so I wasn't terribly concerned, just made faces at them whenever they peeked at me. And I have no idea what my little friend talked to me so earnestly about.
