Patience

Patience is
wider than one

once envisioned,

with ribbons

of rivers

and distant
ranges and

tasks undertaken
and finished

with modest

relish by

natives in their
native dress.

Who would

have guessed

it possible
that waiting

is sustainable-
a place with
its own harvests.
Or that in

time's fullness

the diamonds
of patience

couldn't be
distinguished

from the genuine

in brilliance

or hardness.
- Kay Ryan

I'm in that strange position where I have a lot to do, but I can't really do any of it yet. I need to pack for moving, but I still need to cook dinner for the next week and a half. I need to register for classes, but registration doesn't begin for a couple weeks. I need to find out the status of my job continuation, but can't talk to anyone else until after higher-ups meet about hiring practices. The to-do list is growing, but I haven't been able to cross a lot off yet.

And so, I learn patience.
