I hope you smile

Ok, so I'll be honest. January 31 is still blank on my calendar-synopsis below because I honestly can't remember whether I did anything of import that day or not. It was a Wednesday, so I know I went to work. I feel like I did something else that evening as well, but I really do not remember. Most likely, homework. So there you have it!

Things have been moving along here roughly according to schedule since. By that, I mean that I get up on class days and get myself to class, on work days I find myself in the office. Went out with friends a couple times this weekend, and so far this month I've been much better about being dedicated to bringing a lunch to work or class. More on that in a later post.

I was thinking about color today, and sun. For some reason, that reminded me of this ad that I had seen for a Sony TV awhile back. I love this ad. Every time I watch it, it makes me smile. It certainly doesn't make me want to rush out and buy a TV, but it does conjure up visions of sunny summer days outdoors (people who know me now may not believe that I'm acquainted with that phenomenon, but I've been known to find myself outside once in awhile), doing outlandish things just because it would be fun, and for some reason a feeling of beauty and peace that is sometimes lost in the daily grind. To me, it's more art than advertising.

Yeah, I know. All that from a commercial? I can't explain exactly why this commercial resonates with me so much. I do know that it makes me happy...and that I would love to launch thousands of superballs down the streets of San Francisco if I ever had the chance.

Be sure to check on the high-resolution version on Sony's website, the low quality version below doesn't really do it justice. If you have the time, watch some of their clips on the making of the commercial. It looks like the entire process was really a lot of fun. (If you're really into this, they've recently made another one that involves thousands of gallons of paint!)
